Another swing around the Ewell by-pass today. Cool breeze from the north west noticed occasionally.
Both a meat van and a fruit & veg stall at the market.
Waste water tanker gone from the start of East Street, having been a fixture for getting on for four months. But there were still some traces of activity.
Called in Costcutter in Manor Green Road for some lemons and - by way of a treat for BH - a Saturday DT, complete with House Doctor, Hotel Inspector and all the other weekend stuff. And last but not least a helpful television guide - the Guardian scoring as unhelpful as it does not recognise the existence of ITV3 and the FT scoring as not known as I don't even know if it does television. My bet would be channels like BBC1 and ITV, but not ITV3 and certainly not Sony Movies.
This was my first visit to Costcutter since the start of lockdown at the back end of March. My regular lady all present and correct with face mask, plus a new lady without. Queueing system which seemed to be working. Stock which seemed normal, and certainly included lemons, although I did not give it more than a passing glance.
My task for the afternoon will be to find out whether the DT is still in love with Boris. Which the FT most certainly is not.
PS: and spare a thought for the owners of the DT, the Barclay twins. Have they holed up in their very little channel island - Brecqhou - for the duration? Have they caught the hygiene obsession, that well known occupational hazard of rich people? Do they spray all incoming supply boats with industrial grade disinfectant with fire hoses? And as regards Brexit, with the Barclays presumably being most-rampant Brexiteers, I learn from reference 1 that the Channel Islands never have been part of the EU. No bureaucrats from Brussels poking around in the affairs of honest tax havens, thank you very much. But in what might be likened to a falling out among thieves, relations between Brecqhou and the rest of Sark are bad.
