An M&S trolley captured in one of the passages between the High Street and Station Approach. Unusually, on the station side of the rails.
Later on, outside the empty 'Kings Arms' in East Street, I noticed another M&S trolley unceremoniously dumped in the back of the small lorry used by the council pavement cleaners; one of those lorries the back of which is a sturdy wire cage for the reception of miscellaneous rubbish. But the return of stray trolleys to their rightful owners was clearly not written into their job descriptions.
Incidentally, a reasonably old pub, going back to at least the middle of the nineteenth century. In the recent past a Young's house, which collapsed because there was not nearly enough business to pay the rent asked. This despite my having been taught to play spoof in the busy public bar one Sunday morning. With the result that, despite a couple of makeovers, the place has stood empty for the past few years, presumably while the council squabble with developers over the division of the spoils.
