The old and the new from the spare bedroom, downstairs in our new-to-us cottage in Holne (nearly on the Dart).
The telephone looks to be the same model as we had when I was a child in the 1950's, the same actual model rather than some bit of repro or retro. And it still appears to work, although for some reason we are asked only to use it in an emergency. Perhaps a throw back to the presence of coin-in-the-slot electricity meters in such places.
While the router from BT looks to be the same model as we have at home in Epsom. Perhaps, even, some later model. The only difference so far being that the little card with numbers and codes on the back does not come out of its slot for safe keeping, being firmly attached to the black plastic on which it is mounted. In any event, the connection to the outside world seems to work fine.
Another bit of retro is a clutch of night storage heaters, a mode of heating which we associate with the 1970's. Needed for the moment, as the cottage would otherwise be rather cold. With this bit of retro complemented with start-of-the-art under floor heating in the downstairs bathroom.
Otherwise, lots of IKEA.
