Fake 69

Chanced past Two Temple Place the other night, a fine example of late Victorian fakery (in what was then thought to be the Elizabethan style), built for the Astors and paid for by real estate speculation in New York City. Perhaps the first Astor was the Trump of his day. As it happens, a German who started out as a butcher, who then moved into the fur trade, before coming to rest in real estate.

The house is now open to the public from time to time, but is mainly in business as a venue for fancy events. It looks like you can hire the place for around £10,000 a day, but I have not yet worked out whether you pay extra for consumables. Do you bring in your caterers or do you have to use theirs?

Lots of snaps available at reference 1, from which the rather odd snap above is taken. Perhaps some kind of themed dinner event?
