This new-to-me sort of packaging arrived this Thursday lunchtime, having been ordered from Amazon some time Tuesday. As noted at reference 1, Amazon has been holding up well - a credit to their leader and their software engineers. Not to mention all the grunts on or close to minimum wages.
The stuff actually came from a company called VIP Bottles in Leicester, at whom I have now taken a peek at reference 2. No Calvados, the stock of white wine is quite limited - but there are lots of obscure spirits, including many varieties of Johnny Walker - offering a bottle of never-before-heard-of Green Label for £41.99. But they did have the whisky I wanted and it did turn up very quickly, perhaps all the quicker because I bought it through Amazon and Amazon keep a close eye on all their marketplace vendors.
Booze supplies - white wine, blended whisky, a dash of fizzy and a spot of Calvados - now at record levels, probably enough now to see us clear through the lockdown. Never had as much of the stuff in the house before - partly because, until about ten years ago, not much of my drinking was done indoors.
PS: I might also notice Carr's Table Water biscuits again, following a first notice at reference 3. BH was able to get some of these in the course of her weekly visit to Sainsbury's and we tried some yesterday with butter, Lincolnshire Poacher and some small, dark grapes. The biscuits were very good indeed, not too crunchy and did not involve the sprinkling of salt used by some of the other brands of biscuits intended to be taken with cheese. No further ahead with why they are called Table Water, the best we could do being that there was no milk in the list of ingredients - just palm oil. But we have learned that the biscuit people are probably the same as the flour people, probably both owned by United Biscuits, although I have not been able to trace either from that end.
