Going up the Longmead Road yesterday morning, I did not remember to get a snap of the leaves of the tree noticed at reference 1, but I did remember in time to get a snap of the leaves of a tree much nearer the top of the road, but very probably the same kind of tree.

So back home I snipped out an enlarged leaf.

The idea being that if one gives Google Image Search a detail like this, it will be able to work out what exactly one is looking for. Last night, the answer was American Holly. This morning the answer is Angel's Trumpet. Both clearly wrong, but the similar images offered did land me up on Black Poplar (
populus nigra) which seems much more promising.

Nothing known against at reference 2, so for the time being I will go with Black Poplar.
