A rather splendid clump of trees in Old House Close in Ewell Village, presumably once in the garden of the Old House, now under management by Abbeyfield. One of the bonuses of the Ewell Village anti-clockwise.
Four substantial conifers, with the one in front probably a Wellingtonian, a sort of tree which must have been popular hereabouts a hundred years ago or more, as there are quite a few of them, of this sort of size, about. The tree on the left, above the blue mini and largely hidden behind a deciduous tree is rather larger than it appears here. A trick of my telephone. Fourth and last tree completely hidden behind the two big ones.
A happy planting habit which has not completely died away, as earlier this year someone thought to plant a couple of sequoiadendron giganteum's down Longmead Road. See reference 2.
