More triffid

Some peoples' aloes flower profusely, while ours seems to flower from time to time, most recently in the spring of this year. The one before that was over Christmas last year. See reference 1 and the posts following.

From time to time, probably several times a week, I inspect our aloe for signs of flowering, and today I was rewarded by a speck of green, too early and in the wrong position to be the next leaf. Is it the bud of an inflorescence?

So clicking to enlarge, centre right we have the growing whorl of leaves, with the newest leaf small right. Just above small right we have the out-of-position speck of green.

Further news as we get it.

PS: this is the same leaf whorl as carried the last inflorescence, cut away quite some months ago now, leaving what has become a hard, light brown, hollow stump, about an inch long. In this snap, hidden behind the upper leaves of the whorl.
