Real bacon

Needing a little something for lunch, and the Polish Shop in Ewell Village having seemingly expired after a run of just a few months, I thought to try some fancy bacon from the butcher in Manor Green Road.

Three rashers, of a very proper thickness, gently fried in No.2 rape seed oil, until the lean was a mottled brown and the fat was near translucent. No sign of the white foam or the puddles that come with cheaper brands. Cut into smallish pieces and served on small blocks of slightly stale brown bread, maybe one inch by one inch by two inches. Very good. And bearing in mind matters hearty, perhaps half the fat on the back lawn for the crows and squirrels.

The only catch being, that the only address that Google turns up for Maidenhead Meats Ltd is for a modest private house on a newish estate in Maidenhead, probably within earshot of the A404(M), a spur off the M4. So I have no idea where the stuff actually comes from.
