The blackberries are coming

Original

Marked up

Snapped this afternoon in the hedge next to the cycle track running down the eastern side of Hook Road. So facing west and getting a reasonable amount of sun.

I had thought it was a bit early, but inspecting the record I find that last year the season started towards the end of July. So to keep up, the hard green berries in the snap above need to turn soft and black in the next fortnight or so. I shall keep an eye on them. Perhaps on the marked up berry left, a small exercise in the use of the fairly new Snip & Sketch tool from Microsoft. Need to work on contrast.

PS: Tuesday morning: the brain must have been busy last night, as I woke up this morning realising that in this early evening post, I had conflated June and July, thinking that the berries needed to ripen in the course of the current month, when actually it is next month, six weeks rather than two weeks. So in the this case, the first thought was right and the second thought was wrong. Perhaps the berries are early after all. Perhaps the language part of the brain had got tired by early evening and settled for all short words starting with 'ju' being the same, without regard to case and not bothering with what might come after.
