Wellingtonia 3

Wellingtonia 3 was captured just before Ewell Village, on a detour out of the Ewell by-pass anticlockwise, more precisely in Old House Close, named for the Old House on Epsom Road, now an Abbeyfield residence. Presumably they sold their garden off at some point.

It was not possible to get a snap in which the intended subject, the Wellingtonia, is not confused with the tree next door, I imagine a cedar of some sort. Another handsome tree.

Bending the rules on this one as I have already noticed this particular tree, although I would not like to hazard a guess as to when. Finding out is left as an exercise for the reader. My excuse is the need to draw all the Wellingtonia pictures into the same, uniform series.

Bing turned up this sketch of the Old House, presumably known by some other name when it was first built, but I have not been able to find out anything about its provenance. Certainly looks about right, although the brick of the present building, while old, looks far too clean to have once been pink. And the front garden is now reduced to two or three metres and there is no front lawn. So perhaps an imaginative effort from one of the present residents.
