Last post for Bramall

There was an obituary for Lord Bramall, the distinguished soldier and cricketer, in today's Guardian. I was amused to read at the bottom that the chap who wrote it died in May this year, six months before his subject.

I am reminded that I was once told that newspapers keep cupboards full of obituaries for important people which can be pulled out and dusted off when need arises. Perhaps there are specialist companies these days which build internet accessible libraries of such things which newspapers can subscribe to. Another job outsourced!

And when Google's DeepMind comes of age, you will be able to tell the library something about yourself, so that it can tailor your obituary to your needs, on the fly. And you can play spot the difference between the one in the Guardian and one the Telegraph (aka DT).
