Are they olives?

There are some shrubs in tubs outside the Turkish restaurant in Ewell Village, the place that used to be a Chinese restaurant until a few years ago. Shrubs which I have thought to be some potted version of olive trees, with the leaves looking right, even if the shrubs, which have a ball on stick or lollipop format, don't look much like the olive trees turned up by Bing, most of which look very old.

This morning I noticed these small black fruits, perhaps the best that olives can do in our not very Mediterranean climate?
