The FT seems to have got its teeth into the Serious Fraud Office. So there was an article about the current leader at the beginning of the month, noticed at reference 1, and today, two weeks later, there is another article about two former leaders, one lambasting the other.
One supposes that all these people get put out to grass on generous public sector pensions, maybe even final salary pensions. And that some of them go on to take lucrative private sector jobs while continuing to collect their public sector pensions.
Should we infer that serious fraud is just too complicated these days to be managed down by lawyers and policemen? Should we hire some consultants to travel the world to identify best and worse practise? Are the Chinese on the case? The Party is certainly apt to take a very hard line with people that get brought to trial for corruption for one reason or another.
