Taking stock at Stamford Green Pond of the new-to-us duck food, porridge oats, as recommended by the local eco's.
Quite hard to throw it any distance, which means that the aggressive adult coots did well. Ducks, drakes and young moorhens did not do so well, although all seemed happy enough to dive for the stuff after it had sunk. Diving which, in the case of the coots, involved total immersion, absence for some seconds and much surface water action. Plenty to interest the feeder and plenty of evidence for the old phrase 'like water of a duck's back'.
