Piano 27 was captured in Room No.6 of the main teaching block at the Stag Hill campus of the University of Surrey, of which more in due course.
With Reid-Sohn being a brand name sometimes used by the people at reference 1. Another bit of cod-German, on much the same lines as the more exuberant name at reference 2. This particular brown wood piano did not look very old, say post second world war, but was, nevertheless, a little shabby. It was not convenient to touch the keys to test for the presence of tuning.
Clearly some overlap here with the posts about fakes, the most recent of which is to be found at reference 5.
PS: regarding Room No.6, I will just say that one had a good view of the golden weather vane on top of the tower of Guildford Cathedral from outside: not sure that I had ever noticed it before, despite several visits to the place. Which got me to reference 3 where, inter alia, I learn that the foundation stone of the cathedral was laid by the very same Cosmo Lang who featured at reference 4. A Cosmo Lang who has survived the various culls since then, and sits on the top shelf next to the red dean. Who is left as an exercise for the reader.
Odd the books that I hang onto. Even odder, that it is not that unlikely that, one day, I will take another look at this one.
