Corked?

I mentioned at reference 1 that something was wrong with one of our bottles of Slovenian wine from the Isle of Wight, with there having been some kind of leakage from the side-stored bottle.

We got around to trying it this lunch time, having been stored vertical, in the dark, in the interval. The cork took a proper amount of pull to get it out, not loose at all, although there was a leak mark, perhaps along a flaw in the cork - some sort of reconstitution or plastic alternative. And there was a slightly musty smell when the bottle was first opened. But the wine itself was fine. Perhaps any bad stuff is covered by the hint of fizz in the stuff - something I have come to rather like in white wine. See, for example, reference 2.
