An astronomical morning

Waking this morning, greeted by the sight of, from left to right, Venus, a waning half moon and Mercury. The moon high in the southern sky and Mars with a reddish tinge. At least I think it was Mars, from what I could make of reference 1, first thing in the morning, not long after waking.

Moving on from there to the excellent reference 2, in French translation, English not having seemed to be available, I was moved to investigate plywood - which in French turns out to be closely related to veneer, name plates on doors and tackles in rugby. Via placage and plaquage.

Altogether, a good start to the day.

Reference 1: https://www.timeanddate.com/astronomy/night/uk/london. Seemingly a Norwegian operation. A useful web site, even if it is not clear how it is funded.

Reference 2: Le Compromis - Sergueϊ Dovlatov - 1981/2005. A French spelling of Sergei which no-one else seems to recognise. And even Microsoft's Character Map seems unsure about dotted 'i's.
