In the words of Colonel Bantry in 'The Body in the Library', 'Sad day, Mr. Brogan, sad day'.
Although, as far as I can see on checking the original text, these words have come from an additional scene which had been inserted into Agatha's story by the creators of what I might call the Hickson adaptation. Indeed, the late Moray Watson as the colonel was given a lot of additional air time. Perhaps he was a colonel to be reckoned with. While Wikipedia at reference 3, suggests that subsequent adaptations took even more liberties.
