Contraption

An interesting contraption in the living room of our holiday home, where it stands up, closed, with the left hand flap in the snap forward. It seems to be person sensitive because it is apt to squawk when one goes into the room. At first we thought it was the squawk of a carbon monoxide detector when the batteries run down, but opening it up revealed a canister with a nozzle (top middle), presumably capable of spraying something into the room. Made in China, but otherwise no clues. Other than a similar looking contraption in the bathroom.

Maybe something to mask the smell of mainlanders who do not take enough baths?
