This modest specimen of carex pendula, also known as weeping sedge, was snapped in Firestone Copse, a fine bit of recreational woodland where we are accustomed to take our lunch time picnic after arriving in the Isle of Wight.
A plant which I have been keeping an eye on for a while, with several larger specimens in our own garden, but on checking this afternoon I was still surprised to find that it was a European plant. For some reason, I had thought it more foreign than that.
