Trees three

The tree felling noticed at reference 1, with comment about tree surgeons is now finished and the site tidied up. Inspection reveals that there clearly was something going on in the middle, but whether losing the middle should be fatal I have no idea. Plenty of old oak trees on the common without much in the way of middle.

I can still picture a lean and grizzled tree surgeon taking a core (at least I assume that is what they do) and then pronouncing at the back door, with all due servility and solemnity, that the core of the tree was hopelessly diseased and that he would not like to have to answer for it all falling down on some unsuspecting school children. At least three fatalities given the spread. Not to mention parked cars. The lady of the house looks very perturbed, at which point he scratches his head thoughtfully and says that for a couple of thou. he could just about squeeze her in the next day. Job done and money almost in the bank.

Maybe they go around taking cores (without permission) on a speculative basis.
