Berries and another matter

The hawthorn tree which has been the scene of at least two cat and squirrel dramas in recent weeks, has also been dropping berries, for what seems like months, and sweeping them up has become one of my weekly chores. With the results here illustrated.

I might add that the table top, bottom left, is recycled garden shed. And that the chairs right come from some part of the Berkshire Hathaway empire. See reference 1.

The other matter is Brexit. I realised late yesterday evening, that despite buying acres of commentary about it, and having views on the May deal, I don't have much clue about what that deal is, despite downloading it the other week, as per reference 2. And I dare say plenty of other people are in the same case. I was reminded that the whole point of representative democracy is that we trust our elected representatives to deal with this sort of stuff without our needing to bother our heads with it. A trust which has been eroded in recent years, not least by the mere fact of having a referendum.

For what it is worth, more or less as enunciated at reference 3, the views of this remainer remain that the country remains split more or less down the middle, the May deal probably represents a reasonable compromise between the views of the two halves and we would do well to get on with it. Not to mention the views of our about to be former partners in Europe.

Three 'remain's for the price of one!
