Something going down the bottom of the garden

That is to say some large mushrooms pushing their way out of western edge of the outdoor compost heap, not to be confused with the brick compost heap a bit further down. They look rather like the bog-standard mushrooms you buy to eat from Sainsbury's and such like places, if a little on the large size. But I doubt whether we will put them to the test.

Beyond them, off camera to the right, there is a regular forest of oak seedlings, all about two inches high. Presumably the product of all the acorns swept off the lawn in the autumn, acorns now buried in leaves, prunings and other garden rubbish. I can't see these seedlings lasting very long, as I would think the top foot or so of this compost heap gets very dry in the absence of rain, rain which has been capricious over the last few years.

PS: there is a stray seedling visible top left.
