On the outing noticed at reference 1, I thought I spotted a couple of Wellingtonia on Hook Road, as we came up to the junction with the A3. So last week, I turned right out of Hunters Road instead of left so that I could check.
The best view turned out to be in front of the hard standing in front of what looked like a shut up regional office for the GMB. An office which was once a substantial suburban house complete with chimneys - a house which might once have had neighbours, now blocks of flats. And the wannabee Wellingtonia turned out to be a blend of a couple of yew trees with a Scots pine poking out above.
And the other one was just a Scots pine. No excuse at all. Whatever had I been thinking of?
Heading for home, given that BH was out for lunch and we were headed for cold beef later in the day, I thought bacon sandwiches from the Luna Coffee House were in order for me. I thought two, because my usual one is not really enough when on thin sliced bread, as here. To find that two was a little too much - while I don't think the English of the waitress would have been up to one and a half, even if the cook has been in a cooperative mood. Got it all down though.
Note the unusual tetrahedral tea bag, the last such being noticed getting on for a year ago at reference 4, at the very same establishment. Have to keep a look out for another when we are next in the Isle of Wight.
