More Kingston

Following the preliminary visit to Kingston noticed at reference 1, we returned the following week, BH driving again. Just past the Hunters Road exit onto Hook Road - the exit I usually emerge from on the Jubilee Way run - I thought I spotted a couple of Wellingtonia and marked them down for attention on another day. On into the Rose car park, where we found a non-scoring trolley. Non-scoring on at least two counts: no store identification that I could see and missing basket - although this last does not detract from the duty of the originating store to dispose of rubbish for which I at least hold it responsible.

Fish, ducks and a heron present at the bridge over the Hogsmill. On this occasion there seemed to be no interaction between heron and fish - the former marching in a stately fashion under the bridge on the fish side of the stream - and we wondered how big a fish a heron could manage, with some of the fish present being a foot or more long.

Passed on coffee on this occasion, on the expectation of provision when we reached our destination in the Bentall's Centre, expectation which was, in the event, justified. I was even offered a beer, which I declined, it being just a little early for me. Business completed, we decided we had done enough shopping for one day and turned into Wildwood, a chain we remembered using in Ely, and noticed at reference 2.

Quiet, with maybe three other parties, with the one nearest us sporting some very fancy finger nails. Garlic bread, ham pizza and tiramisu for him; olives, caesar salad and Earl Grey tea for her. No doubt a glass of something warming for me. All very satisfactory.

Tiramisu might be widely available, but it varies a good deal, and I do not like what I call the soggy ones, which this one was not. Must try and remember.

We were sitting by the window and were a little surprised at the number of groups of rather scruffy looking men wandering about. Perhaps in the 30-50 range. Perhaps with not too much to do, apart from take a few beverages, of an afternoon. More than I am aware of in Epsom.

On exit, fish still present in the Hogsmill, while the ducks and heron had moved on. And having missed all the kerbs on the way up the car park, BH managed one on the way down, this despite going down being easier than going up.

Back to win by a convincing margin at Scrabble, breaking the 600 barrier yet again.
