We bought our first cherries from Kingston market yesterday - a kilo of Spanish cherries for £8. Very good they are too, with just three duds so far. A punnet of giant Spanish blackberries was thrown in for good measure, twice the size of anything one gets here in Epsom and at a time when our blackberries are just coming into flower. A month or two to go before we get proper, English berries.
BH ate some of them neat and took most of what was left with her morning porridge. I declined, thinking they were too big and soft for my liking.
Fish present and correct in the Hogsmill, along with ducks, but no heron. We wondered, without coming to any conclusion, why the fish liked this particular position in this particular bit of river. Although I do recall once seeing fish maybe a hundred yards downstream, behind the Rose Theatre and much nearer the exit into the Thames.
Busker with a violin present outside Bentalls, making a dreadful racket. A bit grim for the shop assistants nearby. And not clever for the passers-by. Although I do have to say that one of them gave him some money. Don't feed the foxes say I!
