Cupressaceae

A curious dream fragment from last  night, nothing to do with the curious dream before, about which I can remember nothing now, apart from it having been curious.

A fragment of perhaps a few seconds of being really up close and personal with some fronds of sequoia, the sort of thing noticed towards the end of reference 2. But a visual field which was landscape in orientation rather than portrait and vivid enough to be slightly frightening. I deliberately directed my thoughts elsewhere to be rid of it. There was also a tactile element, a sense of the soft, feathery fronds.

Later on, fully awake, I worried about the fact that some pictures of sequoia leaves were like that shown left above, and some like that shown right. The ones in the dream fragment were definitely right, while the two trees down Longmead Road, last noticed at reference 3, are definitely left.

Eventually I find my way to reference 1 which sorts me out, for which I am grateful. The needle leaves left are the sierra redwood while the flat leaves right are the coastal redwood. Sequoiadendron giganteum and sequoia sempervirens respectively.
