Fake 99 is a new gate post in Manor Green Road, in substance a substantial steel H-girder, but faked up to look like wood.
Which I found a bit silly, despite all the hundred year old steel frame buildings in central London, draped in imposing looking masonry, which do not bother me at all.
Not sure what the solution to this one is. A steel post set in concrete will last a lot longer than a wooden post, but is hard to work into a appealing decorative scheme without doing something of the sort that has been done here. They could at least have carried all the timber facing down to pavement level.
