Liriodendrum

Flowering time again at the liriodendrum tulipifera, aka the tulip tree, on West Hill. Not a good year, with no decent blooms in reach of my telephone and those that I could see neither numerous nor large. I don't think that it is just that I am a fortnight late and the rain has knocked the blooms down; I pass often enough and I think I would have noticed when they were out. Plus, the amount of dead wood seems to be growing.

But still doing rather better than the rather feeble specimen in the otherwise fine gardens of Osborne House on the Isle of Wight.
