No.25

Barely a week after scoring No.24 in a car park on the Longmead Estate, as noticed at reference 1, I scored No.25 this morning, at the junction of Ruxley Lane and Kingston Road, just about where the Thames Water is in the snap above. A larger version of the tankers which used to park in and around our strip club in Epsom, earlier in the year, as noticed, for example, at reference 2.

Being stopped at the lights, I thought about taking a picture, but by the time I had decided that there might have been time so to do, there was not. But for the record, BJZ 25, a fairly new looking, grey Ford Transit Courier, looking rather like a Ford Escort van of old. Perhaps the two brands have been rolled into one.

I thought to use the NATO alphabet to help me memorize the number until I got home. First off, I found that about half of it was missing, but mulling it over as I went along, it had all been recovered except MIKE and NOVEMBER by the time that I had got home. Furthermore, this alphabet did seem to be a memory trick that worked for the alphabetic part of number plates. See reference 3.

Big queue outside Wilko in Epsom.

Big queue cluttering up the main road outside the Aldi at Ruxley Lane. Cutting corners on car parks being one of the ways that they keep their prices down. Dumping costs on the local authority.

Stiff wind coming up the hill on Hook Road towards the junction with Bridge Road and I almost ground to a halt. I thought about changing gear, but didn't. And although it had not been in my mind, I had left it too late anyway as changing gear when one is already struggling is likely to make things worse rather than better. Bit of anticipation needed. Perhaps this thought had got as far as the sub-conscious, far enough up for the right decision to be taken, but not so far as to bother consciousness with it.

PS: I now know that the building site which has been cluttering up the Tolworth end of Jubilee Way for months now is Lidl's new £70 UK headquarters, being relocated from Wimbledon. Are we going to get queues in the main road here as well?
