Two puzzle boxes, Epsom style, under construction for the festive season. Full on construction with substantial cardboard boxes, duct tape, steel straight edge, Stanley knife, chisels & mallet and plenty of PVA glue. BH used to get through lots of the stuff in her days as an infant teacher. With it being a sticky, thick white liquid, almost smelly enough to count as glue sniffing. Having used more than half a pint of the stuff in the construction of the two boxes, it will be interesting to see whether it all dries up in the interior. I dare say it will eventually, but how long is eventually?
Reminded how much easier it is to cut cardboard with straight edge and blade than it is with scissors or kitchen knife. Nothing like having the right tools for the job, even if one does not use them very often.
I remember the three feet straight edge being a fairly expensive item when I bought it, probably 40 years or so ago, while Bing tells me I might pay around £40 for such a thing now.
PS: despite being keen on the straight edge, I did not trim the sides of the boxes square, as one would trim the open sides of a book, opting instead for the rustic look.
