Some blackberries that got away

Failed to take any proper exercise yesterday. In the morning, because of baking bread and boiling soup. In the afternoon, because it was too hot and humid. Even late afternoon, when most of the brick walk is in shade.

But this morning, alleged to be the last day of serious heat, up bright and early to take the spin around Jubilee Way.

A lot of heat haze, so long range visibility not very good.

Little traffic or anything else in Epsom at 0830, but both the traffic and the road-works picked up on Ewell by-pass. And a burnt out scooter has turned up on the bit of cycle path just before the turning into Jubilee Way. And just after the turning, just into Jubilee Way, they have done the double yellow line on the bit of remodelled road before finishing the black top, with this last not appearing to be wearing course and only coming up to with a few inches of the tops of the drain covers. A small failure in project synchronisation.

The road works at the junction of Hook Road and Bridge Road continue, but after several weeks, I have at last worked out how best to get around them. Brain not at its best after the climb up from the parade at Hook.

I was tempted but left some low hanging fruit, hanging out of the branches of a young tree, over the cycle path around the north western end of Hook Road Arena. While stopped there, I was passed by a lady of middle years who was using her telephone - in the sense of looking at it - as she cycled along. I suppose she would say that she was on a cycle path so it was OK - but it struck me as a bit dim. What was she doing that was so important that she couldn't stop to play with her telephone, if that is what she wanted to do?

Home by 0930, by which time I was warm enough. But, so far, I have have only missed one exercise opportunity because of the heat.
