Series 3, Episode IV

It was a bad day for Polly and her friends yesterday.

It had started out well enough. They had decided to try rolling down the new 5m ramp that Grandpa had put up in the back garden, not being particularly bothered that it happened to run over the small ponds. Grandpa wasn't bothered either and was happy enough to untie the lead from their trolley so that it wouldn't get in the way.

But, being good natured, Polly let Yuri drive, forgetting that he was not a very good driver. She only remembered that it was Pedro who had crashed the bus on the much shorter ramp, back at the tail-end of June. An important event noticed at reference 2. With the result that the trolley veered off the ramp about half way down and landed in the lily pond, in a scrap of water free of lily leaves but full of duck weed. With the result that by the time Grandpa got them out of the pond, Polly, Pedro and Yuri were all covered in duck weed. Furthermore, they were all mixed up with a baby newt, all wet and wriggling. A baby newt who was put straight back into the pond.

Grandpa was very pleased as he had not managed to spot a newt for months, despite taking a good look from time to time.

While Grandma was not very pleased at all, and bundled Polly, Pedro, Yuri and the trolley into the washing up bowl in the kitchen for a good scrub with lots of very strong washing up liquid. Feel the difference from Sainsbury's. A very undignified end to what should have been a good day.

Polly promised herself that when she was big, she was not going to allow Grandma to take such liberties. She would wash herself, in private.

PS: the error in the title of reference 2 has now been corrected. With the original file name surviving as evidence of this carelessness.
