I seem to remember our great leader having large (and erroneous) signs painted on his Brexit battle bus about all the money which we were not going to have to give to Brussels any more being given to the NHS.
While yesterday, one of his associates (the one who stabbed him in the back in the leadership contest which May won), tells us of new money for Northern Ireland, to the tune of £650m, to sugar their Brexit pill. Not bad for a country of less than 2m people, perhaps thirteen times the population of the Isle of Wight, twice the population of Liverpool and a quarter of the population of London.
A short story in the Financial Times. Snap above from a different one.
PS: regarding the population of London, reference 1 offers the following: 'London's 2020 population is now estimated at 508,230. In 1950, the population of London was 125,009. London has grown by 17,529 since 2015, which represents a 0.70% annual change. These population estimates and projections come from the latest revision of the UN World Urbanization Prospects. These estimates represent the Urban agglomeration of London, which typically includes London's population in addition to adjacent suburban areas. The latest official estimate of the population of London comes from the Office for National Statistics. According to their data, the estimated population of Greater London in 2016 is 8,787,892'. Which all goes to show that you can't be too careful when lifting facts from the Internet. In this case, I prefer the larger number.
