Gredič

Last night saw the end of the Gredič  from Slovenia, the stuff noticed at references 1 and 2. A change from what we have been drinking recently, but very good just the same. We shall endeavour to buy some more, on the upcoming annual visit to the small island, if not before.

After the wine, woke up around 0400, to remember that I had spotted something I wanted to tell BH about, having spotted it two days running without having got around to telling her. And now I could not remember what it was. So I tried retracing my steps around the Ewell Village Clockwise, failing to take any account of the slightly different route taken on the two days. Eventually, I worked my way around to Ewell High Street and lighted upon the Il Capriccio restaurant, a place which has been there all the time we have been in Epsom, but which we have only used once. I think we found it a bit full of itself and rather expensive - but after twenty years or more, I suppose we ought to give it another go sometime. From there, the brain flipped to the charity shop across the road, once Oxfam and a fine source of 500 piece jigsaws, now St. Raphael's Hospice, and which contained the something in question, a small piece of furniture.

I then went back to sleep and started dreaming about how to fetch the thing. So I put my carpenter's box in the wheelbarrow, the one mentioned at reference 5, and set off to Ewell where I would dismantle the piece of furniture for removal, possibly just stacking it on top of the box and wheeling it back to Epsom. Unfortunately, I arrived to find that the charity shop man had already taken it to pieces, or rather smashed it into pieces. Nails sticking out everywhere. Pieces missing. A complete mess. Hard to see where all the nails had come from. Had the shop man been hammering them in for some reason? In any event, hard to see how I was going to put it all back together again when I got home. Regular case of the Humpty-Dumpty's.

I think I must have woken up again at around that point.

PS: badly stalled on 'The Idiot' on which the bottle is standing. Got about half way through months ago and then stopped, despite finding it a much better and more readable book than I had expected. Despite it being kept in clear view. See reference 6.
