Which reminded me of the livestock on the rocks on Garafolo's 'Allegory of Love'. See reference 1. Snapped here somewhere in the cloisters, presumably having been demoted from the abbey proper at some point. Perhaps the heirs had failed to pay the ground rent.

A fine bit of stone work. I remember now how I used to admire the west towers every morning on the way to work, across Parliament Square. One of the bonuses of working in this part of London.

Serious scaffolding |
Very serious scaffolding around the base of Big Ben. Do they need to hold it up while they more or less replace the stone work?
