Guild living

The footprint of the proposed village

Google has just put an advertisement in my inbox for some people called Guild Living, people who appear to be into higher grade retirement villages. In the world, that is to say, of the likes of McCarthy & Stone (commercial) and Abbeyfield (not for profit). It looks as if they are working up a proposal to put a retirement village on what is presently the southern portion of the Epsom Hospital site, presently mainly occupied by the Elective Orthopaedic Centre - which I believe to be a state of the art operation serving a large chunk of the southern home counties.

Presumably these plans are worked into the proposals to reconfigure the Epsom and St. Helier hospitals, an emotive topic last visited at reference 1.

They include what look some quite high rise blocks, that is to say around eight stories.

There is some tie in with Legal & General. Perhaps they provide the necessary capital.

No doubt these proposals, if they get anywhere near the light of day, will generate a huge amount of noise here in Epsom. In the mean time, I am invited to register my interest and support. So far I have got as far as the first of these.
