Memorial

The memorial

A fitting memorial to the chap last noticed at reference 1. From the people at reference 2. Who said that they were all dour and miserable up north? Who said that the spirit of enterprise was dead?

Dour and miserable

Although they might be forgiven for being a bit dour and miserable when there is plenty of wind and rain blowing in off the sea, just to the east of the brewery at Ellon.

The story from Ordnance Survey

I might also say that the last time I was at the fish dock at Aberdeen, a little to the south of Ellon, perhaps twenty five years ago, I came across the largest herring gulls I have ever seen. And from this scrap of map it rather looks if one could take an excellent walk along the beach from Aberdeen. No doubt there is a licensed hotel in Ellon for afterwards, maybe even one that sells real kippers, more or less unobtainable in the hotels down here in the far south. Even ones in sight of fishing boats.

From a correspondent in Stoneleigh.
