Just over a week ago now, the second of the three haggis's which BH collared from Sainsbury's on a considerable discount. The first having been rather dry and noticed at reference 1.
Overcast day and I kept my gloves on for the whole of the Jubilee Way circuit - but I thought afterwards that it was not really cold, it was just the cold, low cloud which made it seem cold.
Veggie market on the market square, active but not busy at 11:00. But there was, for the first time for a while, a substantial queue outside Wilko, almost back to Waterloo Road. Ewell by-pass busy, but all the other roads quiet. Not even many cyclists or joggers. But somewhere along the way I did pass a kerbside rabbit being attended to by a couple of crows. And there was an abandoned car somewhere near Hook Road Arena. The back window had been smashed out and there appeared to have been a small fire in the back of the car, small enough that the front of the car appeared untouched. A car which is the big brother of our own C-max. Rather ugly and BH has never liked it much, but it has served its turn and been very reliable mechanically.
Home to find the dry haggis problem solved. Almost certainly the result of decanting the haggis into the pie dish, but leaving it uncovered in the hot oven while the vegetables were finished off. A big mistake, not repeated on this occasion. So haggis good. Taken with some of the dark Slovenian wine from Guildford, last noticed at reference 4.
In a bottle which comes with what appears to be a word in one dimensional Braille around the bottom. To be inspected more closely next time.
Desserted with rhubarb crumble.
Decorated with daffodils from Sainsbury's. With the television recycling news about how the few local youths who turn out for the picking, not being able to cope with cold, wet mornings. Lithuanians much better. But I wondered whether the Lithuanians just made better copy than all the local youths who did cope with the cold. Whatever the case, the daffodils do quite well, usually starting tight on a Wednesday and more or less lasting to the following Wednesday - with the snap above being the Sunday.
After carrying my quota of bricks, a comfortable win at Scrabble on a low aggregate score. A win involving a couple of possibly dodgy words, one of which turned out to be in the dictionary and one of which didn't. But no challenges from BH and I can't now remember what the offending words were.

Reference 2: https://thescottishbutcher.com/. Seemingly a butcher that specialises in selling cured and cooked meats to supermarkets. I am reminded of a large butcher we once cam across in Fort William which seemed to sell an enormous range of rather odd looking meat loaves, by the slice. Some quite red in colour.
