The first redwings of the season on the firethorn berries out the back this morning. Sharing with a blackbird. Moved across to the yew berries on the right shortly afterwards.

With the last sighting being in the spring of last year, noticed at reference 1. But more normally an autumn thing, more often November than October.

But changing the search from 'redwing' to 'redwings', the last sighting moves to the autumn of last year, noticed at reference 2. October rather than November.

Which all goes to show that neither memory nor blog search is very reliable.

PS 1: still very little action on the bird feeder, erection of which was noticed a week ago at reference 3.

PS 2: some hours later: BH reports plenty of feeder action while I was out on my constitutional. Robins and at least two kinds of tits. While all I could manage while out, was a long garden hedge alive with twittering but with not a tweet in sight. Probably a congregation of sparrows.
