Nostalgia

A wave of nostalgia hit me last night (Friday) when I happened to turn up all the concert and show tickets from the summer season just past that were not, in the event, used.

Don't suppose things will ever be the same again, at least not for us.

PS: this morning I was not sure that nostalgia was the right word, with my only being able to recall the title of the book at reference 2, noticed for the first time at reference 1. But search revealed lots of it at reference 3. I then check with OED to find that the word was invented at the end of the 18th century from Greek roots. A foreign import word which only rates a couple of column inches. Use limited there to a severe attack of home-sickness, but I think the generalisation to absence of other things over the last century since this edition of OED was compiled might be allowed.
