Easter Island

As part of the going over of the study reported in the last post, this curio was promoted to the great outside, to be a miniature version of one of those monuments on Easter Island.

About half the statue is now underground, with the result rather better looking than the whole statue had been. I did not do the float test recommended by Wikipedia, but I suspect that it is made of an African ironwood and it will be interesting to see how long it lasts - with an untreated by seasoned oak post of these dimensions perhaps lasting five years or more.

I have had the statue for a while and vaguely remember buying it for a larger sum than I care to report from a stall in the Saturday market held on Bridport's South Street.
