Moons

I continue to exercise the no longer new DIY astrolabe of reference 1, with the most recent reading taken at around 0530 this morning, Wednesday, when the moon was low to the southeast.

Since the 8th of February this year, when records began, there have been 31 attempts, of which 15 resulted in readings of altitude. The moon was present on a further 9 occasions, but for one reason or another it was not convenient to take a reading, perhaps because we were not at home.

Interesting how I feel I am now getting to understand how the moon moves about the sky, through the days and through the months, in a way that I failed to get from brain work and simple diagrams.
