Trolley 407

This regular Sainsbury's trolley was recovered from the stream running down Longmead Road, near where this last joins Hook Road. An outing for the grappling iron.

Perhaps the February rain had cleaned the stream out, as although this trolley had been in the water for around a week, it was pretty clean. I was able to brush it off and return it to Sainsbury's without needing to take it home for deep cleaning.

Picked up a five pence piece on the way, about the size of an old sixpence. Neither I not BH were very clear about 2.5 pence pieces, but Wikipedia suggests that old sixpences were legal tender for 2.5 pence until 1980.

Regular trolley stack down to the last half dozen or so when I got there, including one with a  handle lock, not something one sees very often although BH thought Sainsbury's had gone through a period when most of its trolleys had them. What with wheel locks and handle locks, Sainsbury's have clearly put time and treasure into trying to reduce trolley wastage - but now seem to have decided to make do without either.

PS: curious how different the greens are in the two snaps, taken within a few seconds of each other. Did the sun come out from behind a cloud or go behind a cloud - or is something more complicated going on?
