Late yesterday afternoon, I was lucky enough to be able to snap this work, presently at the town end of Platform 15 and commissioned by Network Rail from Solvège Pompomme, at the time of Clapham Junction's refurbishment a couple of years ago.
Solvège is as well known in France as our own Dame Trace is over here and has recently executed a number of commissions for important railway stations in the Vosges, most famous otherwise for including the birth place of Joan of Arc.
This one is called 'L'inconnu' and Network Rail are presently in negotiation with her agents about its permanent location and unveiling. She, it seems, misunderstood the importance of Platform 1 at this station, presently more or less derelict, and took some persuading that the best numbers are around 10.
