Pecking order

I was interested to learn from the advertisement above, sent to me a day or so ago, that the chief information officer for the White House is slightly lower in the pecking order than the deputy chief security officer at Mastercard.

Which all goes to show that the prestige of working in a senior position at the White House is not quite the magic bullet I had thought it to be, even allowing for the size of the Mastercard operation. Whereas here in the old country, service near but not at the top of the royal bureaucracy does earn you the top job in our regular bureaucracy.

Perhaps, when it comes to real business, over in the US, they take things more seriously than we do.
