Over the past few days I have been aware of odd comings and goings to and from the leylandii hedge outside our back extension. Certainly something airborne, not obviously a bird.

Then this afternoon, this from a range of perhaps ten yards, something small and black flying into this hedge at around 1730. Not dark, but the sun was sinking below the trees to the west.

So maybe there are bats about, as last suggested at reference 1. With the blog time 13:52 there being about three hours later than the 10:47 here, but with allowance for the nights now drawing in, maybe not so much. Local time being 18:47, which is as it should be, with PST being exactly eight hours behind proper Greenwich time.
