More flower

Following the report of the flowering of our mother in law's tongue, a week or so ago at reference 1, this evening we noticed that it is now quite something. A much more elaborate flower than we remember from 2012. Maybe not showy from a distance in the way of a flower at Wisley, but it is really quite something at close quarters. A wonder of nature.

It is also very sticky, with lots of nectar dripping out of the florets, visible if you click to enlarge the detail snap above. Not much smell, but perhaps enough to draw the insects in if it were out in its native Nigerian woods.
