The front-room aloe inflorescence was alive and well when we returned from our break out west, but it had still made no attempt to return to the vertical. So it has now been staked and we shall see how things develop. Will the curl-in revert to being a curl-out in due course?
Meanwhile, the lower florets have swollen are starting to show some colour, a mixture of yellow, orange and pink, and it will not be long before they open, not that they open very far. Just enough to be open tubes rather than closed tubes.
The tip of the inflorescence is 32 inches above mat level, compared with the 28.5 inches recorded on the last occasion, at reference 1. Some of this difference, perhaps an inch or so, will be accounted for by the upward growth of the spring board, but that still leaves quite a lot of room for real improvement.
